Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills are a team that plays in the AFC East division in the NFL. Their storied rivalries with the New York jets, the New England Patriots and the Miami Dolphins have provided NFL fans with some of the greatest moments of all-time. The Bills have been an enigma in their history. They have been relatively successful compared to other teams, except that they have never won a Super Bowl, although they did win consecutive AFL Championships in 1964 and 1965. It is this aspect of their legacy that continues to haunt them to this day. In spite of always coming up short in the Super Bowl, the Bills have an amazing, passionate fan base, which is easily one of the best in the NFL.

The Buffalo Bills are going to be remembered as the only team in the NFL, and in the history of sports, to go to four straight Super Bowls and lose all four. No other team in any sport has ever gone to four straight championships and lost them all. This is a distinction that Buffalo Bills fans aren't proud of, but it doesn't keep them from passionately supporting their team. The Bills are an impressive historical franchise that boasts some of the best players the NFL has ever seen.

The Bills were arguably the best team in the NFL during the late 1980's and early 1990's. These are the years that they went to four straight Super Bowls. From 1990 to 1993, the Buffalo Bills won each AFC Championship game but then lost in the Super Bowl. The most infamous of these losses came in the very first one, where Scott Norwood’s missed kick with four seconds left to play sealed the fate of the hard-fighting Bills. The Bills were only trailing the New York Giants by one point, and Norwood's forty-seven yard field goal would have given the Bills the Super Bowl victory. Instead, Norwood's kicked sailed "wide right" which has become one of the most iconic calls in Super Bowl history.

That would be the last time the Bills ever got that close to winning the Super Bowl. In the next three Super Bowl games, the Bills lost by at least thirteen points each time. Despite coming up short all four times, many Bills players on this team are considered among the greatest players ever to play the game. Jim Kelly, the illustrious quarterback, was a first-ballot Hall of Fame quarterback due to his accomplishments with the Bills. Thurman Thomas, the fearless running back, who leads the Buffalo Bills franchise rushing records lists, was inducted into the Hall of Fame during his 2nd year of eligibility. Bruce Smith is the NFL's all-time leader in quarterback sacks, and he, too, was elected into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility.

The Buffalo Bills and their fans have enjoyed a lot of great football memories over the years. Continuing the proud tradition of the Bills today are Ryan Fitzpatrick, C.J. Spiller, Fred Jackson, Steve Johnson, Jairus Byrd and others. The Buffalo Bills, despite their shortcomings in the Super Bowl, have provided fans of professional football with some of the most memorable moments ever. The Buffalo Bills have been and will continue to be one of the most well-respected and most-watched teams in the entire NFL.
